MILLENNIUM DEVELOPMENT GOALS

The MDGs are goals that were created at the United Nations Millennium Summit. There are 8 MDGs and 15 core targets that are goal subtopics. Many countries pledged to meet the MDGs by 2015. December 31, 2014 is fast approaching, and one can hope that all of these global health goals will be met through the coming years. What we have achieved so far: The world has reduced extreme poverty by half. (2010)
Improved drinking water sources were available for 2.3 billion people. (2012)
Disparities in primary school enrolment between boys and girls are being eliminated in all developing regions. (2012) Political participation of women has greatly increased. (2014)
Development assistance rebounded and was recorded to be the highest with $134.8 billion, the trading system stayed favourable for developing countries and their debt burden remained stable.
